Professional Development
I have provided professional development in the past relating to Special Education. I have spent 20+ years focusing on special populations in multiple settings - public schools, an alternative school and an outdoor treatment center. I have worked with EC students in small groups, individually and co-teaching in inclusion classrooms. Please allow me to share my knowledge and experience with your staff. Multiple session options are listed below. Note that sessions can be combined to create a more comprehensive PD experience.

Walk a Mile (a great 1st session)
While nothing can fully simulate the experience of having a learning disability, this 1 hour session puts teachers in the shoes of an LD student. Discussion follows that helps teachers improve their understanding of their students with disabilities and how to better help them learn.

Inclusion/Collaboration
This 90 minute session focuses on helping regular ed teachers and EC inclusion teachers work together to improve learning outcomes for their students.

Intro to EC
This 1 or 2 hour session focuses on the basics of special education. It includes some history, the legal bases for EC, IEP's, 504's, qualifying disabilities, IEP meetings. The 1 hour session is more of an overview while the 2 hour session goes into more depth.

Classroom management
A poorly managed class creates stress for teachers and students alike. For learning to have a chance to happen some semblance of order must be maintained in the classroom. This 1 hour session gets right to point in delivering effective management techniques.
